GOLDFIELDS SUB-BRANCH. The annual, meeting of the Gold-i fields sub-branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute was held up the District High School, Paeroa, on Saturday last, the president, Mr. Gt H. Taylor, in the chair. The annual report showed that two successful general meetings had been held during the year, at which ad.dresses on educational topics were delivered by Inspectors Lambourne and McLeod. Following the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet jt was agreed that the creidt balance of. £l3 should be used in establishing the nucleus of a teachers’ library of books of modern educational thought, and in defraying the cost of securing the services of capable lecturers on matters of interest .to teachers. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows : President, Mr. Q. H. Taylor, Paeroa; vice-president, Mr. H. T. Gibson, Waihi; managing committee, Miss Shaw, Paeroa; Miss Black, Te Aroha; Mr. G. K. Hamilton, Waihott; Mr. Armstrong, Waihi; and Mr. Wilks, Paeroa. Secretary and treasurer, Mr. A- Bell, Karangahake ; auditor, Mr. S. J. Bishop, Paeroa. Mr. G. K. Hamilton was appointed the sub-branch representative on the Auckland branchMr Taylor, delegate to the recent annual conference of. the N.Z-S.L, held in Wellington, then gave to members ap interesting account of the procedure and business done at that meeting, where matters of primary importance to educationalists, such as the establishment of junior high schools, and the curnicula for post-primary education, were under discussion. A vote of thanks to the president for his address terminated the meeting.
