“OLD MOTHER HUBBARD” PANTOMIME. TO-NIGHT. “A good big show, at reasonable prices” is the motto of the management of the “Old Mother Hubbard” pantomime, to be staged this evening. The pantomime was written by a well-known Australian composer, and is full of pretty and catchy music. Particular attention is drawn to the first appearance in Paeroa of Miss Ethel Osborn, the brilliant, lyric soprano from the studio of Mr. Ronald Foster, of the Sydney ConservatoriuPT. No finer soprano has ever been heard' in New Zealand, so lovers of good singing are in for a rare treat. The principal girl, Miss Audrey Carlyle, has a, singing voice .well above the average, besides a dainty personality. Miss Lulla Fanning is the dashing principal boy, and has all the necessary attributes for this most important part. The comedy, so necessary to panto, -work, is in the hands of Mr. George Harpur, a “dame” of wide experience, Mr. Arthur Bertram, Miss Rubee Raymond, and Ponto, the dog, who didn’t get the bone. Playgoers will appreciate the scenery, which, is of an elaborate nature, and includes the gorgeous transformation scene representing Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter.. Beautiful costumes, of which there are some hundreds, are worn during the production, and should please the eyes of the ladies. For those who appreciate jazz music a special scene has been arranged, the leaders in which are Ar.tffuh and Rubee Bertram, whose dancing is of a very high order. They are assisted by the full strength of the company in this latest freak dancing?. Although the company is such an expensive one the prices ofl admission are well within .the reach of all, so a bumper house should greet them tonight. The box plan is at Flatt’s, where seats may be reserved without extra charge.
