Mr. and Mrs. Milne left for Auckland, where they are going to reside TURUA, THE WHARF. Though in a general, way the Turua people are satisfied with their new wharf, there should be, according to a discussion at the Town Board meeting on Wednesday evening, several improvements, which are considered highly essential. The chairman, Mr. J. Bennett said there had been a recommendation from the N.Z, Dairy Company to have the wharf; approach widened to permit two vehicles to load at the same time. ‘ The Board’s engineer hal thought the expenditure would not warrant the improvement. There should also be a ladies’ waiting room on the wharf. There were no protecting boards to the corrugated iron walls, and the walls would soon be knocked in.

Mr. Olsen said that a lady had walked over the edge at the place where the carts back in. There should be a rail at that point. The clerk pointed out that the lack of double loading facilities would create congestion. . There were two factories sending a large amount of produce to the wharf. The amount of cargo which passed over the wharf was considerable. The inward tonnage for the past year was 2272 tons and the outward was about the same amount. These figures were ample evidence Of what the congestion would be through the lack of double loading facilities. - It has been announced that either the Hon. G. J. Anderson: (Minister for Marine) or the Hon, Downie Stewart (Minister for Customs) will open the new Turua wharf on some date after June 30. PIPIROA. DOMAIN BOARD.
