ITS IMPENDING TRIAL. HON. J. G. COATES’ OPINION. While Messrs T. W. Rhodes M.P. D. G. McMillan and J. Bennett, were waiting on the Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister for Public Works, in connection with the granting of a subsidy on roads, matters in connection with the Kopu Ferry were The Minister said that Mr. T. Keane, who was soon to try out the disused Ferry, could work it and that Mr. Keane was prepared to give it a week’s trial. Mr. Keane has had considerable experience with ferries which have been difficult to work and he was for 22 years working the ferry at Mititi, near Dargaville. So confident is Mr Keane of being able to wofk the Kopu ferry that, it is stated, he had sportingly offered a wager on his venture.
