HIKUTAIA NOTES.
- (By Scrutator.) THE SCHOOL. The meeting of householders whica was called for the beginning of the month and which lapsed for lack of . a quorum, was held in the district school on Monday night, when the attendance was very poor. Mr A'.. RRobinson was voted to the cjxair. The annual balance-sheet, which showed a credit of over £l2, was passed as read, pending the receipt of the bal-ance-sheet from the auditor, to whom it ha-.: been forwarded some weeks previously. The main feature of the report referred to the action of! the committee in urging .the need for the enlargements to the School, which are at present being made. On the motion of the chairman the report was adopted and a cordial vote of thanks passed to the outgoing committee, who had done so much to further the interests of the school. Mr Robinson referred to the apathy of the householders, stating that the importance of; education to their children warranted a much larger attendance at the annual meeting. The following were elected as the hew committee: Messrs W. H. Alley, G, Avery, H. Cameron, A. Gubb, McSweeney, A. R. Robinson, and I. Robinson Before closing the chairman referred to the loss the committee and the public in general would sustain through the departure from Hikutaia of their late .secretary, Mr. W. 11. Norton, whose valued services' had been so highly appreciated. He moved that the committee’s high opinion of such services be recorded in the minutes. The motion was unanimously carried. At a subsequent meeting Qt the new committee Mr. A. R. Robinson was elected chairman and Mr. I. Robinson secretary pro tern. It was decided to hold a meeting at an early date to consider the matters oi school grounds improvement and cleaning. THE FOOTPATHS. j During last week much-needed improvements were made to the footpaths leading from the railway station to the school. The main road still cries in vain for metal! BOWLING GREEN. Owing to the recent inclement weather work at the bowling green has not made any progress. PERSONAL!. On Thursday night a social will be tendered to Mr. and Mrs. W. Norton, who are about to leave the district. On Wednesday Mr. F. Maxwell resumed work after a somewhat extended health visit to Rotorua. DOAN’S REPORTS INVESTIGATED. No return of illness for two years. We are answering a very important question to-day, viz., “Do the people who say they, have been cured by Doan’s Backache Kidney Pills stay cured ?” A medicine which cures merely for a day or a week is worthless ; it is only a tonic or a purgative. But a medicine which drives the illness away so that it stays away, that medicine does all medicine can do. We have been verifying bur earlier published cases, and we are pleased to say that the result of pur investigations has been most gratifying. The cures by Doan’s Backache Kidney Pills are permanent cures. Here’s proof pf .this statement: — Mr W. E. Brunell, Bradley Street, Paeroa, says : “My kidneys were seriously disordered for some time, anl no one knows how I suffered in consequence. My back used to ache until I felt I could not bear it any longer. I was often so bad that I was compelled to lie in bed for days at a time, being unable to even turn in bed without suffering agony. I was also troubled with dizzy’attacks, and generally speaking felt fit for nothing. Hearing that Doan’s Backache Kidney Pills were a splendid medicine for the kidneys, I bought a bottle to try them. They gave me relief in a few days, so I persevered with the Pills until I was quite cured. I .took three bottles in all and my cure is perfect, no sign of backache and kidney trouble having returned since i.t was effected. Doan’s Pills are a wonderful remedy, and should be taken by all who suffer with their kidneys.” Twb years Fater Mr Brunell says: "I am still well and have only Doan's Backache Kidney Pills to thank for my lasting cure.” Doan’s Backache Kidney Pills are sold by all chemists and storekeepers at 3s per bottle, or will be posted on receipt pf price by Foster-McClellan Co., 15 Hamilton Street, Sydney. But, be sure you get DOAN’S.
