PAEROA DOMAIN.

SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT. Superintendent J. Hamilton presented the following report to the Paeroa Borough Council meeting on Thursday night: “Since my last report I have been occupied with the usual maintenance work. Owing to the exceptional season for growth more time than. usual has been expended on cutting grass on the bowling greens and erpquet lawns. As the winter is approacning I will soon undertake the i cutting of the hedges and the pruning of the various trees. I will have to spend more time on the hedge on. Thames Road this time, as, I intend to take a toot and a half off it, as it is encroaching on the footpath. “I have had the spouting of the two pavilions repaired, but I now find that the barge boards of the croquet pavilion, are rotten and are in need of such repairs as to necessitate the employment of a carpenter. ,“I desire to draw your attention to the state of the water trough in the paddock. This trough is continually leaking, .and it will be beneficial if you can see your way clear to put a new one in.

“In conclusion, gentlemen, I would like to inform you that I had occasion to go to Auckland to the funeral of my brother last Christmas time, and sc- 'h-ad to engage a man to undertake my work .while •! was away. I paid this man 30s, and shall be glad if you can see your way clear to refund this sum to me.—This latter request the Council held' in . abeyance for investigation.

DOMAIN COMMITTEE REPORT. . The " Domain Committee’s report was’ read as follows :

“ Your committee begs to report that in accordance with the Council’s wishes we have visited the Domain to inquire into the matters' discussed at the last meeting. Re tool shed, this would require to be about 12ft x 6ft in dimensions, without a floor, and would cost approximately £27 16s. “Re gorse on Primrose Hill section: We are of opinion that it would cost approximately £lO to £2O to clear, the gorse, to' burn same, to plough the section, and move the fence to the Thames Road and Wood Street boundaries. We would suggest that the •superintendent employ a man for a fortnight to assist him to grub out the gorse and burn it, and to move t)ie fences, and that the ploughing be done by contract. “It will be necessary for youT Council to find sufficient timber, approximately 10ft., to repair the gables on the tennis pavilion;”

Cr. W. Bain said lie did not fee] inclined to spend £27 10s on a tool-shed. Perhaps the tennis buildings could be added to and utilised. This portion of the report was not approved.
