ROADING PROVISION.
One of the matters which the Paeroa Borough Council might do well to consider when preparing the permanent roading scheme for the borough is the making of provision for .what is known as a “silent policeman’ for the proper direction of traffic. This method is now in vogue not only in large cities, but also in many moderate-sized towns. In Hawera, for instance, the system works, extremely well, directing all the and has not been a CSigle accident. Sergeant Henry, formerly of Paeroa, who is now statinoed at Hawera, expressed to a representative of the '‘Gazette” the considered opinion that the system was really excellent, and on busy days, such as when races were on, it saved the police and the traffic inspectors a very great deal of trouble and worry. It will probably be a couple of years before the permanent roading system of this borough is commenced, but it is not too early to plan out details which it might not be an easy matter to fit in once the system is completed.
