WAITAKARURU. DOMAIN., SPORTS COMMITTEE. At a recent meeting of Waitakaruru settlers to nominate names of five local settlers to comprise a Domain Board, the following' recommendation was passed : “ That the newly elected Domain Board request the various local’ sports bodies to call a public meeting in order .that a sports committee may be formed tp work in conjunction with the Domain Board. NGATEA. FACTORY SUPERINTENDENT. . Mr Kirkman, the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company’s factory superintendent, accompanied by Mr Bunyard, the company’s chief' engineer, made a visit of inspection to the local factory last week. It. is understood that this is part of. the general 'Hour of inspection of the Company’s factories. STOCK SALE. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. held a fairly successful stock sale ait the Ngatea yards recently. There was a fair yarding, and most of the cattle was disposed of. Beef steers brought from £4 10's to £5 10s, beef j cows £2 10s to £3 10s, and four.-year , store .steers £3 to £3 19s. IURUA. VALEDICTORY. . The many friends of Miss Herd and Miss N„ Wall, of the Turua post office, gathered in the Victoria Hall on Thursday evening, when a farewell social was held. Mr G. Gray with, a few suitable remarks made presenta-. tions of a handsome travelling rug; an umbrella," and a cheque. Songs were rendered by Mesdames Darby and James, Miss Miller, and Mr Cas.s ! n.. Mrs Mules and Mr H. Rowntree were the accompanists. The evening econeluded with dancing to the music of Mr H. Rowntree, about 60 couples occupying the floor. KEREPEEHI. FOOTBALL DANCE. The Kerbpeehi Football Club held a successful dance on Thursday. Included among the 60 guests there were a number of visitors from Ngatea and Netherton . Mr? Potter supplied the music and Mesdames Chatfluid and Hendren and Mr Cahill obliged with extras. Messrs Cahill and Masters officiated as M's.C. A good supper was provided. x Mr J, H. Nicholson, in a brief speech, reminded all that ‘Tie football club was an institution which should be helped along. He was pleased to see present such a large number of visitors from the other districts. NETHERTON. x CREAM CARTING. ' ■ ' A meeting of the -Netherton Cream Suppliers’ Committee was 'held at Ncthortorii on Thursday, Mr R. H. Heapny presiding. The coming year’’> carting contract ,was decided on, the route to be from Mr G. Fisher’s corner to Paeroa.. It was stated that the Pekapeka Road settlers were arranging a contract pt their own, the cream to be carted from Mr Hoppings’ corner, along tlie Pekapeka Road tp Nga-< tea via Wairau River, WAITEKAURI. Since the mining flutter nothing of any interest has occurred in Waitekauri, with the exception of th.e election of a school committee, which promises to be a very energetic one. For four years Mr F. Butcher has acted as commissioner, and has carried out ‘the duties connected with the position in a very' praise worthy; manner. CHURCH ALTAR CLOTH. A few of the ladies of the district have presented the Churdii of England with a handsome new altar cloth. Three of the ladles who contributed handsomely r,emarked that as they did not attend church they would be pleased 'tip give a gopfl subscription. Mrs Walker very kindly made the cloth, which adds greatly to the appearance of; the altar. It will be a happy day for the churches I when all the non-church-goers think as our three friends ' did.
