FARMERS’ UNION.

NGATEA BRANCH. The Ngatea branch of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union was: held in the Public Hall on Saturday. There was a good attendance of members. Mr G. T. Davidson was elected to the chair. Mr W. A. Montgomery, who is commencing a bakery business;, and whose bakery is almost qpmrilete, wrote thanking the Union members who kindly lent carts and -horses’for the cartage of timber and bricks. The business would probably be in operation in about three weeks’ time. The chief postmaster, Thames, advised that there was no truth in the rumours to the effect that there would be an aleration in he Paeroa-Netheron-Kerepeehi-Ngatea mail service.

Mr Davidson reported that Mr McDuff (chairman of Suppliers’ Committee) had received a reply from the Dairy Company to the effect that the management and directorate of the company would be able to visit Ngatea early in May, in order to address a meeting ofj settlers. Accounts totalling £8 8s were passed for payment. Messrs W. LawTence, A. J. Andrews, R. H. Duddtngi E. A. Clark, and J. Taylor were elected members of the Union. ' VETERINARY CLUB. Mr Andrews said that the matter of forming a veterinary club had never been earnestly pushed at Ngatea. Mr Jensen, the veterinarian at Turua, had been approached and had promised to help with t,he formation of another dub. If that did not eventuate he advised the Ngatea settlers to join the other club. The speaker urged that a club should be formed, with its headquarters at Ngatea. A committee had been formed. He had seen Mr Harris at Waitakaruru, and Mr Harris had been favourable to the poposal. Mr Parfitt, at Pipiroai, had likewise been sympathetic, and had ( promised to do his. best for the move- | ment. The speaker viewed the posi* ; tion optimistically, and he considered that the club could be organised. He believed he could get. 40 members.in Ngatea.
