POWER BOARD WORKS.
ENGINEERS’ REPORT. ■ Messrs Gauvain and McLeod, engineers to the Thames Valley Electric Power Board,, reported as follows at the meeting on Tuesday:HAURAKI PLAINS SECTION. 1 The main gang has. been engaged on the erection of the pole line from Netherton to Turua, and poles are now erected up to Turua. ■ ' - To conform with the. requirements - of the Turua Town Board it has been necessary to make some alteration's,, in the survey of the maip line and also the low tension lines, but an ar-" rangement has now been made which is satisfactory to aill parties. The--ground on the Netherton-Turua sec- = tion whilst being very wet ,is proving to be better holding ground than, was expected, though it is necessary ' to block the base of all poles. Crossarming has been started ou.. the Wh.arepoa-Kerepeehi road. - PAEROA-THAMES SECTION. •'Jrossarming on 'this section .has . be?n completed, and ■ power- was"" sw’tched on the line on April 18. The wiring gang has the line erected to s about Wharepoa Road, and the next work will be the wiring of the ‘ ■ Wbarepoa block, ■ - TELEPHONES. . A gang t has • been . started~ on the erection of: the wires for high tension * telephones . from Paeroa to Waifcino, s; As soon as this section is flnished-the ~ lines will be extended fnom Paeroa to ' Te Arolia. TE AROHAj-MORRINSVILLE SECTION. The line work in the Morrinsville borough is nearly completed, and a good number of. services have been connected. . ■ Extensions of the low-tension wiring have been made on the main line poles from Waitoa and. a short low tension line has been .run down Farmers Road. A start has, been made on the wiring, of the 3300-vok line along Seddon-Road." . Thu poling gang on No. 7 Road has now erected up to about No. 4 Road; this gang has been engaged for several days felling trees on the rqute. The wiring ‘gang has completed No. 2 Roa J to No. 7 Road, and Has started on No. 7 Road from the south end. MANAWARU SECTION, Poling on this -section . haS been completed nearly up to the glax'O fae- . ■tory, but a considerable -’time has, been spent in changing over a private telephone line on this route; also in ; cuttiiur trees.. The erection of the poles on the .swdmp section proved a -, difficult matter.; ■ PERI A SECTION.- ‘ This section has been completed, , and all service connections made. The gang employed on this work has now been tarnsferred to Waharoa, and is in the meantime engaged m running low tension lines on th 3 main • line from Waharoa to Matamata.. TE POI SECTION. The .3300-volt wiring has been completed' to the school;" also the low tension - wiring round the Soldiers' Settlement. Low tension wiring is now being done on the cheese factory section, and will be continued down the Kaihai Track road, which has been poled to the river. . • . HINUERA-PUTARURU SECTION. The wiring of both high and low tension lines from Hinuera to Tirau is practically complete, and powet can be put on .the line as spon as the telephone and railway crossing at Hinuera has been approved. Per- - mission lias this day been received to proceed with this crossing. The work will be put in hand immediately . and power will be switched 'on th® main line as soon as the crossing Is completed. The’ poling of the main x line has been continued to within, about two miles of Putaruru. PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT. , Plans in triplicate of all lines in L, the Thames County have been forwarded to the Under Secretary for Public Works in order that a license be obtained for supplying power and light in this county. -These plans were forwarded as soon atf'tihe consent to erect lines in the county was received from the County. C o.uncil. GENERAL. A conference was .held in HamHltonon April 20 with, the executive of the New Zealand Dairy Co. regarding supply of power, to the- various factories. The Board was represented by the Secretary .and the consulting engineers. ’■
