MANAGER’S REPORT. The following .report was submitted to the Thames Valjley Electric Power Board, on Tuesday by the secretaiymanager, -Mr R. Sprague :— The sales of energy for ‘the year ended March 31, 1922, amounted to £5907 10s lOd, and purchases from the Public Works Department was £2898 5s 7d, made up as follows:: , Receipts: Bulk supply), £2390 15s 7 ; Paeroa. £1965 13s 9d; Matamata; £651 12s 4d ; farmers, £899 9s 2d ; total, £5907 10s lOd.
Expenditure : Public Works Department, £2898 9s 7d ; balance, £30.09 Is 3d. . Poles.—A price has been received for the carting of poles on the Hauraki Plains from Turua,*the price per pole being 5s 6d. This, I consider too high. The Board can do this carting at 3s per pole.. Under th? circumstances 'the Albion is now doing the carting. Two tenders were received for delivery of joles from Kopu to River Landing on the Plains, the prices being: H. Kerby, £140; Foote Bros., £lll 16s 6d, being a difference of £2B 3s 6d in favour of Foote Bros. Messrs Foote Bros’ tender was accepted, and the poles are now being delivered. N.Z. Dairy Co.—A conference with Mr Grodfellow was held at Hamilton on Friday, 21st. The Board was represented by Messrs Gauvain and McLeod and the, manager. Mr McLennan also attended. The matter of minimum charges at Whitea and Waharoa factories was fujly discussed and also the supplying 'oi electricity to the cheese and butter factories in this district. The Dairy Company agreed to give the Board a list of the factories that would be requiring power, also the estimated horse power required, and .the engineers will advise (the Board with regard to special terms. The poles for the Te Poi section have, now been ca,rted, and the Daimler ns now employed carting from Waharoa to Waitoa 11,000 volt line.
Installations—The price for installations have been furthej reduced as follows: 3 points, £2 15s-per point ; 4.-5 point. £2 5s 6d pen point; 6-10 point, £2 2s 6d per point; 10 and over, £2 per point ; 2 h.p motor, £39 installed ; 3 h.p. motor, £45 installed. Any consumer booked up at any other price will receive an advice from the Board advising, him of the reduction in charges. ( Charter.—lt was impossible to obtain a reduction in freight from the owners of the “ Theriault,” and djresh arrangements have been entered into for a* Charter Party, which will save approximately £325 to £350 on tee Theriault’s last charter of. £1250. An order was given to Archibold and Co for a shipment of poles to be delivered within six weeks from the date if the order,, and I notice by the shipping news 'that t.he “Manurewa” has not yet arrived in Newcastle for loading, being now 28 days’ overdue. If-there is no immediate prospect of delivery I woujd suggest that the order be. cancelled owing, to a bettor charter having now been arranged for.
