BOROUGH WORKS.

FOREMAN’S REPORT.

Foreman Neil reported as follows to the Paeroa Borough Council at the monthly meeting:

“I beg to report that the work for the past month has been mostly taken up with the cleaning of drains, repairing, and patching. ' J have had the Te Aroha Road drains cleaned from the traffic bridge to the end of the drainage area. One of the culverts on this road will' require to b 3 renewed with 6in pipes.

“The main outfall drain has been cleared of all blockage up to the Rye Lane bridge, and the water has now got a clear passage, which I think will get over the winter with an odd day’s work now and then. There are still about ten chains of this drain to be cleaned to the boundary of the Station Road drain. I am at present, having the Station drain cleaned preparatory to having pipes put in. “The water main to the Lutter factory gave us a lot of; trouble during the month, owing .to being unable to locate an unmarked stop-valve whicn had dropped. This valve had not been used for many years. The pipe.; are now all clear and the water supply to the factory is again satisfactory.” The foreman was instructed to fence the septic tank ground. The Mayor said an early opportunity would be taken to make .an inspection of the whole borough and tabulate the works most urgently required during the ensuing -year. Or. McDonald asked if anything further had been done with the matter of repairing the footpaths in the main street.

The Mayor replied that they were to be tarred and sanded.

Cr. McDona.ldi: They should he done be'-ore winter.
