PERSONAL.

Mr H. Poland (member, for Ohniemuri) visited Taupiri and Orini on Wednesday last in connection with a deputation from soldier settlers of Orini who waited, upon Mr Skeet, Crown Lands Commissioner, settlers are feeling the effect of! low prices for their produce, and were anxious for temporary assistance, and they received a very sympathetic -hearing from the Commissioner. These settlers have in - most cases poor sections at a reasonable price, and should do well ultimately, and they are a fine sample of the soldier settler. Mr Poland visited also Whitikahu and spent the evening at "Ta Roto,” near Whitikahu, with -the owner. Mr R. McCallum, M.P. for Wairau. Mr McCallum has a very pretty lake about 30 acres in extent on his farm and has secured a couple of splendid specimens of- Canadian geese for the lake. Both Orini and Whitikahu are in the Ohinemuri electorate.
