NOTES FROM THE PLAINS.
SEASON opens: next week.
The Hauraki Plains football competitions will commence this year, with five clubs in place of only three last, year. Last year’s 'clubs, which are again affiliating, are Patetonga, Ngatea, and Waitakaruru, and will- each enter a junior and senior team. The two new clubs, Turua (affiliated last year wi,th Thames) and Kerepeehi (an entirety new organisation), are also entering in both the senipr and junior competitions. Ngatea will this year be the headquarters of .the Plains Rugby Union. It has been decided that the Plains Union affiliate with the Goldfields Rugby Union, and be represented at the Goldfields' annual meeting, on April 29. This decision was not unanimous, a few voting in favour of .affiliation with Thames.
The Plains representative colours of last year (all black) will not be used this year. Gtreen jerseys will now be worn by the Hauraki plains representatives.
Matters concerning boundaries are now engaging the attention of the Plains executive, which has been deputed to meet the Thames Rugby Union in this connection. A portion of the Plains ’territory, it. is. said, is in the Thames and Goldfields, areas, and this should realty be settled before the season is under way. The championship fixtures are set down to commence on April 29, tomorrow week, when matches will oe played at Kerepeehi and Waitakaruru.. DRAW FOR FIRST ROUND. The following is the draw for the first round: Note.—The matches will be played on the ground 1 of the team .mentioned last in each, case, unless otherwise specified. . SENIOR GRADE. Third Day.—Turua v; 'Patetonga, at Ngatea ; Kerepeehi v. Waitakaruru ; Ngatea a bye. Fourth Day.—Ngatea v. Turua; Patetonga v. Kerepeehi; Waitakaruru a bye. Fifth Day.—Patetonga v.
