NGATEA SCHOOL.

MEETING OF COjMMITTEE. A meeting of. the Ngatea School pommittee was held in the Public Hall on Monddy afternoon, the folI lowing attending: Messrs W. McDuif (chairman), W. G. Hayward, G. T. Davidson, W. J. Clare, and C. W. Shultz, (secretary). Mr R . E. Jamieson, headmaster, was also present. Mr Shultz reported that a letter from the Education Board, in reply to a request for a teacher’s residence, stated that the, present head teacher had applied for the position knowing ■ the position regarding .accommodation.. The Board was not prepared to act in the matter at present. Mr Jamieson said he knew the position, but it was a very lame explanation. He contemplated getting ' an estimate for the removal -of his l house from Coromandel.’ Mr Hayward drew attention to the I fact that a portion of the school ground was useless at present, for a playground, and on his motion it was decided to have that portion ploughed and made suitable for playing purposes. i The headmaster’s action of purchasing a football and tennis balls was confl'.med. The secretary was instructed to organise a- working bee to improve the approach to the school site.
