HAMILTON SPORTS DEPOT
GOLF AND GUNSFOOTBALL AND FISHING. W. H. TISDALL, LTD. Sportsmen and sportswomen will be pleased tb learn that at last there has been established in the Waikato a house solely stocking their requirements. Messrs W. H. Tisdall, Ltd. (of Wellington and Christchurch), have established a branch shop in Victoria Street, Hamilton, which golfers, anglers, footballers', shootists, bowlers, tennis and croquet players, and other devotees of games and sport generally will find replete with all their requisites. This introduction may fittingly include the statement that those in charge of the Hamilton house have expert knowledge of ihe special lines they are handling. For instance, Mr W. H. Tisdall served his apprenticeship at the bench in his family’s gun manufacturing establishment ih Birmingham, where their line for four generations back has been engaged in the same trade. This is typical ’of the best British families, whose particular trade or profession is always looked upon as an honourable calling, worthy of the highest skjll and integrity; with such people no sacrifice ’is too great If it means the keeping up or enhancing of their reputation fpr producing articles of the best: materials and the highest workmanship, and disposing of them in accordance with a. lofty code of commercial morality. Being a shootist, the writer passed by the bewildering array of fishing feckle, golf gear, footballs, .and the appropriate clothing, and fixed his envious gaze on' t|he splendid range ofl guns and rifles. Here you can buy guns of well-known reputable makesor get your old shooter, if you have one, repaired. Cartridges,. belts, etc., are there galore, There are English., Belgian, and American guns, singles, doubles,- and repeaters, and the finish of some of them is enough Lo tempt the poor shootist to theft. Hammers and hammerless, they contain all the latest improvements, and are such as, an Owner could not but help taking pride in. And there’s a tidy squad of rifles in the racks, from the -22 ajid the Service .303 to the latest triumph of the rifle, maker’s art, a beautiful Manlicher rifle, with the finest magazine and ejector, device you ever set eyes on, and these parts can be taken to pieces with the fingers within a .few seconds. The barrel is well guarded with wooden sleeve as protection in rough country, and—daddy of the lot—there are two triggers), one being for the normal pressure, and the other a “hair-pressure,” which will act. on the slightest touch. Either one can be put in or out .of , action within an instant. Truly, the Manlicher is a wonder. But it' is hopeless to do even the scantiest justice to Messrs Tisdall’s Sports House within the limits of a newspaper article. Send for a copy of their 56-page illustrated catalogue, stating the class of gear you are interested in. Mention of the “Gazette” will ensure that you receive prompt attention.
