HIKUTAIA. STOCK SALE. At the Farmers’ Co-operaUve Auctioneering Company’s stock sale at. Hikutaia on Wednesday the following prices were realised: Porkers £2 4s, weaners 3s to 15s, slips 17s, stores up to £1 4s 6d, sows £2. Store 8s 6d. wethers 18s. Fat cows from £1 14s to £2 18s, fat steers £6.. TURUA. SOLICITOR. It has been stated that a solicitor ‘ is prepared to come to Turua. The gentleman who considers this move will visit the district at the end of this week. It will be remembered that the local branch of the Farmers’ Union had moved in this direction some moirths- back, and it appears as though another of their commendable efforts for the advancement of the district is to bear fruit. TELEPHONE SERVICE. Another matter under consideration by the. local Farmers’ Union members is an effort to have an extension of hours at the telephone exchange to 7 a.m. till 10 p.m. in placp of from 8 a.m. till 10 p.m. SCHOOL PICNIC. The Turua school held a picnic •last Saturday. Though the weather was not at its best the kiddies and parents had a very enjoyable outingGames and races were arranged for the children.
