OHINEMURI JOCKEY CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Oliinemuri Jockey Club was held on Friday and Saturday lasts, a large attendance on both days being recorded. The weather; on the opening day proved showery, with bright intervals, and on Saturday, although dull and threatening at. times, the rain held off, and made conditions enjoyable. The course on both days was on the heavy side, and fast .times were, of course out of the question. Two dividends of the solid order were declared on Cup day, Forest Gold in the chief event and Regent in the Kpmata Handicap returning double figures. On the concluding day Flowing Bowl, in the Hikutaia Handicap, also returned similar figures, while Tinohoro, Infante, Aware ka, and Arizona Maid all proved remunerative investments. The totalisator returns for the first day amounted to £25,406 10s, and on the Second day £29,046, making a total of £54,452 10s for the meeting. This shows a reduction of £23,606 on last year’s figures, when the record figures of £78,058 10s were returned. The racing was of a. high order throughout, and those at the head of affairs worked strenuously to prevent any discordant npte. The races for two-yeaf-olds proved a great success, and the club will no doubt be encouraged to again include races for juveniles when next season rolls round, Koura, the Steeplechase winner, and Pavo, the winner of th© open sprint on the first] day, were both returned as successful on Saturday.
