LOCAL CHURCHES.

PAEROA AND DISTRICT. ITEMS OF NEWS. Contributions of items of interest in connexion with Paeroa and surrounding district churches ar© invited by the “Gazette.” Forthcoming events, in accordance with \ newspaper practice, are not given publicity unless the s.ame are advertised, but functions or happenings that are .past will always be given notice provided that some responsible person will be good enough to send the notes along tp this office. With the limited staff of a country newspaper it is not possible to send a representative to all the churches when special functions’may be in view, or references made atf all at the saina time. For example, we are informed that references to the late Mr F. Le Manquais were made in several churches last .Sunday. Had a member of each denomination thought of informing this office, per phone or by letter, a mention could have been made of all references, instead of in the one case where a representative of the “Gazette” happened to attend a particular church. We may point out that there are a large number of people living at a distance, especially elderly persons, who find it mbst inconvenient to get to church, but who, nevertheless, always read matter in reference tp district churches published in the "Gazette.” There are five religious institutions in Fae.roa, alone, to say nothing of the churches dotted about in numerous outlying centres; it will, therefore, readily be seen that ch-operation with the “Gazette” Office is needed to give one and all due publicity.
