Mr Cassrels asked for the co-opera-tion of the Chamber with the Rotokohu Ratepayers’ Association in making representations to the Government to assist the settlers who have been injuriously affected by the recent floods. A Public Works Department engineer had inspected the land, but he could hardly be expected to portray the real position to the Department. The land affected was as productive as any land on the Hau-, raki Plains. The settlers wanted protection', or the purchase of their lands. It was also desired that the Chamber ask the Railway Department to co-operate, as the PaerpaHamilton and Paeroa-Waihi lines had been partly destroyed.—Carried.
