POWER BOARD.
ENGINEERS’ REPORT. i - The following report was put before the Thames Valley Electric Power Power Board at Tuesday’s meeting by the engineers, Messrs Gauvain and McLeod: Thames .and Hauraki Plains Sec-i tions.—Poling on the Paeraa-Thames section has been completed to the top of Wharepoa Road. The Hikutaia bjock has been all poled. The 11,000volt wiring hajs been completed from Puke to the top of) Hubbard’s Road and back to Nathan’s transformer station. Transformers and switch gear ..ave been erected on Puke Road, Hill Street corner, Public Works Department’s workshops, Puke Eridge, and at Nathans. It is proposed to take some of the Paeroa load on the Hill Street and Nathan’s transformers, thereby relieving the main Paeroa transformer. As soon as the Post and Telegraph Department has completed the necessary alterations power will be 1 on as far as Puke bridge. The main PaeroahTh.am.es line has now been pegged out up to the Transformer station at Thames. Te Aroha-Morrinsville Section. — The poling gang on (this section is now in the Morrinsville Borough and the poles for carrying the main line ark being erected up the backstreets towards the Board’s depot. Owing t > the hard nature of the groun’d some difficulty has been experienced in sinking the holes, but good progress has been made. The extra high-ten-sion wiring gang is following up the poling gang, and has completed the wiring up to Piako. About 2% miles oil poling has been completed on Chudley Road.. Piling has been completed in Waihou towirship and wiring has been started.. No. 2 Road has been wired from Eastport Road to Nd, l.Road, and cons nection is now being made down No. 1 Road towards Wiseman’s Road. The transformer at Herriesville made alive oii January 7, and on tjie 11th all new low-tension lines in Herriesville were connected up to same.
Hopkin’s Corner to Tirau.' —This, is a main 11,006-volt line running through Hinuera, Okproire, and up to Tirau, and will eventually be extended to Putaruru. Later on It is proposed to run a loop line from Tirau to connect with the Horahora main line. Poling has been completed from Hopkin’s Corner to Tirau, a distance of 9 miles 51 chains. An extra high-tension wiring gang has started on this section and the wires are out to Hinuera. Peria Section. —This section has been poled from Hopkin’s Corner r.o the corner of the Matamata Road, a distance of 7 miles 4'6 and about 60 chains of IoW-tension pole line erected down the Matamata Road. A wiring gang h,as started on this section and abput six miles of wiring has been completed. Hinuera-Te Poi Section. —This line has been pegged out for a distance cf 4 miles 64 chains, and a erpssarming gang* has started on the section. The line, which is 3300 volts, and carries a low-tension line on the same poles, will eventually be continued north and then west, and .will couple up with the main 11, OOP-wolt line at Waharoa. General.—Very bad weather during the past week has considerably interfered with progress of the work.
