STOCK SALES. I The Farmers’ Corop. Auctioneering ■ Co., Ltd., reports :— { At Hamilton on Tuesday, January I 31, the entry of beef was smaller I than usual and lacking in quality. Values were on a par with recent sales. A small entry of store cattle ’ met with a ready sale. The sheep pens were well filled and in keeping with the improvement in export values. We report a further rise over last week’s rates, freezing buyers competing freely and securing the bulk of the mutton. There was also brisk bidding for all. store sheep, rape lambs creating keen competition. Baconers sold at recent values, while porkers and stores were slightly better. We quote: Small fat steers to £5 7s (no heavy or prime cattle penned) ; prime fat cows £3 10s to/ £4 19s, others £2 7s to £3 5s ; 3%<year fresh-conditioned steers to £4. 3s, others, same age but mixed cal vers, £3 10s to £3 14s ; store cows £.l to £1 5s ; calvers 13s to £1 4s for quality heifers ; bullocks £1 10s to £2. Prime fat wethers 17s to 19s 3d; good fat wethers 15s 6d to 16s 6d, lighter 14s to 15s 3d. The fat ewes penned were excellent quality, all making from 12s 6d to 14s 2d. A pen of 20 prime mixed 2-tooths realised 19s 9d. Best forward lambs flor rape Ils 7d to 12s lid ; good store lambs 7s to 9s, others 6s 4d to 7s. A line of mixed age breeding ewes Ils ; 2-tooth ewes 13s sd. Weaners 5s 6d to 9s.
