1 PAEROA V. PLAINS.

| On Monday last a party of tennis players from Paeroa visited Turua for the purpose of playing a. return match with a team selected frpm several of the tennis clubs on the Hau L raki Plains. At the initial match, played at Paeroa early in December, the Plains team suffered defeat by a small margin. The results of Monday’s games were:

Men’s Singles.—Wells and Thorp 1, v. Brownlee and Murphy 6; Miller and Towers 6, v. McMillan and Briggs 1; I. Towers and Kenny 5, v. Devereaux and Reid 6; Penlington and Towers 6, v. Vowles and Mules 4 ; I. Towers and Kenny 6, v. Waite and Miller 3.

Ladies’ Doubles.—Misses I. Taylor and C. Taylor 6, v. Mesdames McMili lan and Phelps 2 ; Misses Tierney and L. Thoi-p 3, v. Mesdames Melsop aifd James 6; Misses C. Taylor . and M. Thorp 6, v. Mrs McMillan and Miss Miller 5.
