ENTERTAINMENTS.
CENTRAL THEATRE PICTURES. COMING PROGRAMMES. PAEROA, PATETONGA, AND HIKUTAIA. FILMS. DIRECT FROM CITY HOUSES. / The proprietors of the Central Theatre (Paeroa), and Patetonga and Hikutaia Pictures (Messrs Woods and Jennings), desire to extend to tjieir many patrons the compliments of( the season, and to thank them sincerely for past patronage# Arrangements have been made for screening leading productions straight from city houses. The Patetonga pictures start on Tuesday, and Hikutaia on Thursdays. Patetonga will get Fox pictures, direct from the Queen’s Theatre, Auckland, and the class of pictures, the projection of them upon the screen, and the general quality will be equal to any country picture show in New Zealand. Hikutaia is to be favoured with Metro classics fpr the star films, with a good variety of supports. The regular programmes will he duly .advertised in the “Gazette.”
TOsNIGHT—FRIDAY. -‘SOCIETY SECRETS.” The programme for to-night is headed by “Society Secrets,” featuring Eva Novak and and all-star caste. The picture tells the story of a New York son and daughter who are ashamed of their small town parents ; how the old folk take intensive training in the artificial graces of s.ociety to win back the love of their children, and how they discover that their ini structor in the social arts is the aristocratic fiancee of their urbanised son. TO-MORROW NIGHT—SATURDAY. “RED FOAM.” A Selznick production is the feature for tomorrow night, entitled “Red Foam,” starring Zena Keefe, and many other notable screen plavi ers.
MONDAY NIGHT. ’ “KNOW YOUR MEN.” Pearl White, of -serial fame, ,is to appear on Monday in “Know Your Men.” It is a domestic drama and concerns a woman who did not t know men, and tells the story pf 'Ellen Schuyer, the daughter of a rich and aristocratic widower, Warren Schuyler, whose wealth dominates a suburb colony near, New York City. Schuyle r has organised the Ellen Oil Company, named in honour of his daughter, and the residents have invested their sav r ings in the stock of the company. The picture has an interesting finish.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT. “JUBILO.” On Wednesday .night will be screened “Jubilo,” featuring Will Rogers, who takes the title role. He is a good-natured hobo, “Jubilo,” and has earned his name because he so often hums the tune of “Day of Jubilo.” The lilting melody disarms ’die sus-< picion pf Jim Hardy, who, gun in hand,, has been on the look-out for the arrival of an old enemy. Some years ago, when Hardy was judge, he gaoled a robber, Bert Rooker, an 1, as the man ha-s just left prison, Hardy anticipates trouble. This picture is .a Goldwyn masterpiece.
