PIGS AND “PERFUMES'.”

Sir, —Allow me, per medium of your columns, to say a few words concern-> ing pigs and boarders. Though my acquaintance with the district) is not longstanding, I think it is a fact thar an attempt had been made to prevent a pig-receiving depot being erected in the vicinity of the boarding|house. However, the depot was erected, and is still there, but to my knowledge it has not yet been extensively used. Some reference should, however, be made to a structure which accommodates the same class of animal as t|he pig depot does, only this building is continually occupied, and if any.thing is closer to t)ie boardinghouse than the pig depot is. It is possible that something has been said of the matter ere this, but another request for the removal of the pig-sty would not be amiss. When the wind is in the right (I should say wrong) direction the effluvium at the boardinghouse, and at several other dwellings in the vicinity, is by no means sweetly perfumed. The Farmers’ Union (I think it was - that body) protested against the erection of the receiving depot, which was to be used only occasionally, but did they make any attempt to secure the removal of a pigsty which is continually occupied ?— but excuse me, perhaps the owner is a respected member of that ‘'most respected body.” BURNITT. Ngatea, December 7, 1921.
