NGATEA’S ANNUAL BALL.
PLEASANT SOCIAL GATHERING. Though the weather was by no means en|ticing, a large number of dancers enjoyed a Very pleasant so cial gathering on Friday night whicn was the occasion of the Ngatea Annual Ball. The dancing floor was comfortably filled by some 50 couples which included visitors from Turua Kopuarahi, Pipiroa, Waitakaruru, and Thames. Nothing better could have been desired in dance music tihan that supplied by Mr Arthur Williams’ orchestra from Thames? The tunes were bright and the time perfect, so tihat if a dancing “fan” were not enticed to “waltz and waltz and waltz” it was no fault on the part of the musicians. Mrs Potter, Misses F. Solberg and R. Kirby obliged with extras, ’. Messrs A, and J. Banks admirably conducted tlieir several duties as M’s.C. Supper and the general arrangements were in .the hands of a capable committee, which included Messrs A. and J. Banks, E. and A.. Muggeridge, and R. Bratlie, At an appropriate interval Mr W. G. Haywarjl commented on the sue cess of tihe function and congratulated the organiser’s.
THE DRESSES. Quite a number of dainty frpeks were seen at the ball, and the following are those handed to the “Gazette” representative, who attended : Mesdames W.'G. Faulkner (Ngatea), cream‘silk; V, Faulkner (Ngatea). pink net; Frida Solberg (Thames). ninon over green silk; Gunvor Sol berg (Thames), white net; M. McConnell (Ngatea), white silk ; Vera McDuff (Ngatea) white georgette ; Violet McDuff (Ngatea), white muslin; Ray Kerby (Thames), primrose satin ; L Lukes (Ngatea), white voile ; S. Ganley (Pipiroa), black net; M. Keane (Hamilton), jade and black; E. O’Shea (Maungakaramea;, Whangarei) blue silk ; K. Kejly (Pipi;roa), black crepe de chine; Dulcie Candy (Kopuarahi), pink silk; Parker-Smith (Ngatea), satin e.-del; O’Carroll (Kopuarahi), vieux rose crepe de chine ; Burdus (Waitakaruru), white natier sa,tin; Gemming (Kopu), white lace and pink crepe de chine over dress ; J.
