A PRESENTATION.
A very pleasing function took place at the Postmaster.’s' residence lastevening, when Miss Purdie was presented with a hat-box prior to her departure from Paerqa. In making the presentation on behalf of her fel-low-workers Mr McDougall said he regretted losing so efficient an office*" as Miss Purdie had proved herself to be. He recognised,, however, that they must not be selflsjh, and felt sure that the transfer to Auckland would mean promotion to one who had proved to be sp capable and dependable. Paeroa’s loss would be Auckland’s gain, and on behalf, of himself and staff he wished Miss Purdie every success and good health. His Worship the Mayor (Mr P. E. Brenan), Mr W, D. Nickola’s, and also several members of ths staff spoke of the high appreciation and esteem in which Miss Purdie was held by the telephone subscribers. Mr Jasper suitably replied on behalf of Miss Purdie.
