BAND INSTRUMENTS.
Sir,—lt will .be a matter for great regret if the rumour regarding the proposed sale of band instruments is correct. Your correspondent “Interested” points out that Paeroa wi'l possess two band rotundas, but no band. The secppd rotunda, I understand, is in the course of erection. It appears that the beautification scheme will be a farce. We have on one side the Beautifying Society endeavouring to make visitors believe that “beautiful Paeroa” is well supplied with music, while the Borough Council is discouraging the possibility of a band again coming into existence. I have thought it strange that no effort has been made to revive interest in the band and begin afresh. No town is complete without a brass band of some description, no matter how weak it is in its infancy. If*the Borough Council, is really contemplating disposing ofl the band instrua public protest should be made immediately; in any case, some effort should be made to reorganise the Paeroa Band so that the two rotundas will not only be public adornments, but also of public utility and entertainment. Wake up, Paeroa I FLUGEL. Turua, 23/11/21.
