WAIKINO NEWS.
BOWLING. On Saturday /last the first interclub match took place, between the Waihi and Waikino clubs.* The green was in splendid condition, The weather was fine, but unfortunately there was plenty of wind, which did not improve the playing. Previous to commencing Mr H. Hewitt, vice-president of the club, addressed the visiting players, tendering to them, on behalf of the Warkino Club, a hearty welcome, and regretting that the president (Mr J. H. G. Banks) was unable to be present on that occasion. After the match Mr Evan Morgan, vice-president of the Waihi Bowling Club, thanked the Waikino Club for the reception given to them, and three cheers were given for the ladies for the great assistance rendered with the afternoon tea, etc., There were seven rinks, and the result was, Waihi 133, Waikino 98. CRICKET. The newly-fopmed cricket club had practice’for the first time on Saturday. By the way lhe, batting, bowling and fielding were done there is
every appearance of it being one of tha best in the Goldfields in the near ftuure. : TENNIS., ' The court has begn well attended during the week, and several games were played on Saturday. „ ( ■
