ADJUSTMENT OF BOUNDARIES. ( -— Speaking in (he House, Mr T. iW. Rhodes (Thames) asked the Minister of Lands .if he would introduce legislation this session to - iiust the boundaries of the drainage-iv.iing area between the Hauraki Plains and the Hauraki Drainage Board’s territory, so as to obviate overlapping and. to remove the injustice of s.ettj.ers having to pay rates both to the Govern • ment and to the Drainage Board. The Hon. Mr Guthrie (Minister of Lands) said he was aware of the overlapping referred to. The reason for it was that when the Hauraki Plains District and the Hauraki Drainage District were formed the country was not in the condition it was in to-day. He recognised it was a matter requiring attention, because some of .the settlers were rates. The question had been before him for a, considerable time, and he had asked for a report upon it, a copy of which he would be pleased to hand t.p the honourable gentleman when it camo to hand. The matter would require to be dealt with by legislation, and provision would be made for it when the Land Bill was introduced. -
