THE BOWLING CLUB.
OFFICIAL OPENING DAY.

An Saturday last the official opening ofjhe Waikino Bowling Club took place, in very unfavourable weather. Even under such frying circumstances there was a good attendance, but after playing for some time the game had to be abandoned.
There were visiting players from Auckland, Te Arpha, Karangajiake, Paeroa, and Waihi. \ Amongst pthe? visitors was Mr E. G y Banks, superintendent of the Waihi Gdld Mining Co. At about 2.30 p.m. Mr J. H. Banks, president of the Waikino Bowling Club, addressed those present,, giving them a hearty welcome, and was pleased tp -see so many under such weather conditions,. Referring to the. club, he hoped it would, have a successful season."'’ The first jack was thrown by Mrs J. Banks, after which the president declared the green opened, amid applause. Speeches were given by 'the visitors thanking the Waikino Club for the great reception given to them on the occasion. Luncheon and afternoon tea was provided, and served by the ladies.
The crbquet lawn adjoining the bowling green was officially opened at 3 p.m., Mrs H. Hewitt giving the 'first hit for the season.
