WAIKINO NEWS.

U.A..0:.D. A social and dance was given by the Waikino Lodge of United Ancient Order of Druids O ( n Friday last in aid of funds for the Waihi Hospital. There, were over 200 present, and the hall 1 was tastefully decorated for the occasion. Amongst those assembled were brethren and friends from the surrounding district. The function commenced about 8 o’clock, tho first dance being a waltz. The orchestra in attendance must be complimented on the good style and time they rendered during the evening. The M’s.C. in attendance were Bros. C. Phillips and T. Owen. A euchre tournament for two valuable prizes also took place, the winners being Mrs Murray and Mr Barron. At about H p.m. the adjournment to supper took place, the extras being played by Mrs G. Collins.., Tire arrangements were in the hands of the worthy secretary, Bro. G. Bell, P,A., assisted by the officers of the Lodge, who spared no pains in making the function a success. Many thanks must be tendered to Mesdames Bell, Luther, Whitley. and Shaw, and Misses Gilpin and Shaw, who gave great assistance in decorating the 1 - supper tables, etc., and attended to the requirements of those present during the evening. BOWLING. On Saturday a party of bowlers, including Messrs R.. Vercde, H. Hewitt (vice-presidents), and J; Hind (Selector), left here in motor-cars to attend the official opening of the Waihi Bowling Club. A most enjoyable time was spent the happy party returning at about 6.30 p.m.
