Replying to an enquiry regarding timber for sale, the State Forest Service seated it would be inadvisable to cut silver pine ,and kawaka timber only, from Erua and H'oropito. The whole of the block should be tendered for, if any. A later communication advised that the timber could be tendered for in whole or in parti, but this modification, made after it was seen that no sale could be effected elsewhere, came too 'late, the Board having made arrangements elsewhere in the meantime. The chairman .was favourably disposed, and thought it wbuld be a good advertisement.

MOAN FROM MATAMATA. A Matamata resident wrote asking the Board £o send a man to inspect, an installation put in by an Auckland contractor. He stated that the contractor said the Board would make such inspection. It seemed, according to the statement by Mr Price, that there were defects in some of the installations. It was stressed by members that no contractor had a right to start any electrical installation until the same had been duly sanctioned by the Power Board. And after the work was dope the Board had to be notified to inspect the same before the current was available, People should not permit contractors -to proceed with such work until the Board’s per*mit was received,,, otherwise they were liable to be mulcted in extra costs before the job was up to the Board’s standard. , LOAN MONEY ON DEPOSIT. The Public Trustee advised acceptance of £200,000 of the Board’s £350,000 loan on deposit, at 4% per cent. £lO,OOO will be available to the Board monthly. The Trustee could not, however, guarantee that the money would be re-'loaned to public bodies in the Board’s district, though he would endeavour to do this.
