STOCK SALES.
The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., reports :— •.
4 At Hamilton on Thursday, August 18, we yarded 300 head of cattie, 400 sheep, a‘nd 250 pigs, practically the whole of which was cleared. . The quality of the beef was a great improvement on recent sales and meC with strong competition, values idv.ancing considerably. Best bullocks made to £l4 12s 6d, medium £lO to £ll 15s, lighter weights £8 to'£B 17s 6d. • Fa< cows made to £l5 5s for «n 'extra prime heifer from Mr F, A. Seddon ; ordinary £6 ,12s 6d .to £7 17s 6d,’ light weight and plain.quality ;4 15s to £5 5s ; forward cows £3 7s 6d to £4 10s. -A line of 'forward steers from the West Coast drew good bid-, ding, making up to £8 16s ; smaller frames £5 5s to £6 6s. Two-year and yearling cattle varied little from the previous week, values being low throughput. EiglAeen-months to twoyear steers £2 4s to £3 2s 6d ; heifers same age (small) £4 12s Gd ; yearling steers £2; heifers £2 15s to £4 5s ; small yearlings, mixed, £1 to £1 10s. In the sheep section competition was also more spirited and values advanced. Best wethers realised up to 255, lighter weights 19s 6d tp 21s; forward 16s to 17s 6d ; store lambs 6s to 8s 6d. Pigs .were again in good supply, but hardly reached las't week’s values. Baconcrs made to £5 Ils, porkers £3 to £4 2s 6d, slips 25s to £2 ss, weaners 9s to 17s 6d.
