KEREPEEHI.
A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
"(Staff Reporter.)
Dissatisfaction having arisen owing to tne failure of the secretary cf the, Hauraki Plains A. and P. Association to c.al-1 the annual general meet: ing, which is about .four monthg over - due, an executive meeting to take steps in the matter, convened by Mr L.- A. W. Bagnall, was' held in me Kerepeehi Hall on Saturday. There were present; Messrs W. G. Hayward, L. A, W. Bagnall, E. Walton, J. Twist, D. g. McMillian, Jamieson, P. Henry, W. McDuff. < Mr Hayward was ultimately persuaded, as vice-president, to take the chair. He regretted that there was not a more representative attendance. It would be better tJo do without friction if it could be avoided. However, some definite, understanding with the secretary would have to be made. He suggested that someone should be appointed to wait upon him.
Mr L. A. W.- Bagnall, who was appointed secretary, remarked that many people had approached him and asked him to call a meeting. : It was resolved that steps be taken to notify all members of the association as to the position, that a report be prepared and submitted to each member, and that a general meeting b,e convened. .
Mr-Jamieson said Mr Bagnall ought to be congratulated on his courage in calling the. meeting. The secretary had been asked to do so.
Mr Bagnall’s action in calling , the' meeting was unanimously endorsed. Mr Henry said the president, Mr A. Chatfield, had told him that he had done all he could to get the secretary to call a meeting, but so far without success. The -secretary had sent a wire that mofning (Saturday) to the president, stating that the books and balance-sheet were being forwarded by that day’s mail, 'and would be in Kerepeehi on the 22nd inst. Mr Hayward remarked that the meeting was not cabled fo.r the purpose of condemning the president or •the secretary, but to get things up to the mark. , f . Mr Henry said that the president had promised to calil a meeting shortly, whether the secretary w r as ready or not.
Mr D. G. McMillan endorsed Mr Bagnall’s altitude. Everyone was condemning the present laxity. i Mr Bagnall explained that he had no intention of being discourteous to the president, but greatly desired a clearing up of the present very unsatisfactory position. Probably the action he had taken had caused the secretary ,to take action in forwarding ’ the balance-sheet, etc. .Mr Bagnall read letters he had written to the president and secretary, to which he .'had received no reply, hence the meeting. Mr J. Twist thought, the, association" was under a debt of gratitude to Mr, Baghall. Mr McMillan pointed out that the delay in payment 'of accounts' would be damaging to. the Association’s pres-
tige. .- . Mr Walton proposed that Messrs Hayward, Henry, and .Bagnall be asked to interview Mr Chatfield and ask him to call- an executive meeting: this committee to have power to ,act in any circumstances that should arise. Seconded by Mr D. G. McMillan and carried.
A hearty vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
