TWO-DAY SHOW.

MAKING ARRANGEMENTS. Arrangements for .carrying out a two-day Show were further advanced at a meeting of the committee of ‘he Hauraki A. and P. Association on Saturday night. In the absence of the president (Mr J. A- Reid) the chair was occupied by Mr E. W. Porritt. ON WAIKATO LINEsi /Mir G. Buchanan moved that the arrangements for the two-day show be as nearly as possible on the lines of the Waikato Show. —Carried. SCHEDULE COMMIUTEE. Messrs E. Fathers, A. White, J. Munro, J. A. Reid, G. Buchanan, B Veale, and the secretary (Mr E. Edwards) were appointed to arrange th? details of the schedule for the respective days. HUBBARD MEMORIAL SHIELD. During discussion on the Hubbard Memorial Snield conditions, Mr G. Buchanan said the judges did not like the method whereby all the breeds were pitted against each other. One judge said it was like putting a. Shetland pony against a draught horse. The speaker thought each group should compete in successive years. The nominations could be taken immediately and the Shield to be competed for by the class having the most entries. Alternatively, they could arrange the competition alphabetically, Ayrshire, F|riesian, Shorthorn, Jersey. Mr A. White said that probably iite fairest way would be to ballot for the rotation.

Mr W. J. Byrne commented that there was a fine entry of cattle last year, and it would be unfortunate if the conditions checked entries. He thought the decision’ of the ballot should be left until Show day. Mr J. P. Findlay thought a group prize should be given for each group every year,, and the Hubbard Memorial to be allotted by ballot as an addition to the groups prizes. Mr Buchanan moved that .'the Shield be allotted to the four dairy breeds in rotation, provided that there are three entries in each class and that the order of rotation be fixed by ballot. If the breed securing the bailee had not the requisite entries, then the next breed be chosen. —Carried.

It was decided that the various breeders be notified, through their associations, of the result of the ballot. Competitors of past years are to be notified individually. SECURING FODDER. Messrs P. Hubbard, W. J. Byrne, and J. P. Findlay were appointed ::s a sub-committee to arrange folr fodder,. HOME INDUSTRIES. Mr R. Whitten, Paeroa, wrote as follows: * “I beg to bring before your next meeting for discussipn the neeessity for combining horticulture and home industries with the next Show, I understand that the Refinery buildings have changed hands, and if the building is suitable and could be secured, perhaps you would interview the owner and ascertain on what terms the building could be secured. The building and location are unique for the purpose.” Mr F. S. Budd said the building would be suitable ; it was 66 feet by ■44.

The secretary was instructed to enquire as .to the cost of the loan of a marquee from Messrs Le Roy and Co., and see members of the community who might take an active interest in the horticultural and industrial- sections, and ascertain what assistance would be forthcoming to carry out the necessary extra work ; also, that .the secretary interview Mr Cullen in reference to the building.
