Combined Sunday School Picnic.

The fourth Annual Combined Sunday School Picnic was held in Mr L. B. Harris Sen., paddock on Saturday last.

The day was an ideal one, the heat being tempered by the clouds over the sun and the cool breeze.

Helpers were early on the field, getting tffings ready for the amusement of the children, and by the time the see-saws and swings were erected, the fun was in full swing. Timber andfacilities for “boiling the billy ” were kindly provided by Mr and Mrs. E. Marston, this lightening the labours of the committee very much, and lunch was ready punctually at 12.30.

After dinner various sports events were held, with the following results : Boys—-under 5, T. Melling, A. Geary, L. Rosser. Girls —under 5. B. Whorsky, R. Wright, E- Williams. Boys—s to 8, D. McLennan very generously donated a sum of money and gave a lot of sweets for the children. The money was divided into three lots, and raced for, but unfortunately the names of the winners were not taken. The sweets were distributed among the smaller children. Before tea tim,e, the crowd had very much increased, and the fun was fast and furious. Between three and four hundred sat down to tea, and did such ample justice to the good things provided that very little was left over. After tea the fun commenced again, and was kept up until darkness drove the last of the merrymakers home. The consensus of opinion seems to be that this was the most successful picnic yetli3ld, and the result must be that the picnic will next year be more popular than everA great deal of the success of the day was due to the great efforts of the committee, which consisted of the Revs. J. L- A. Kayll and W. Lea, and the Sunday School teachers with a few of their friends. These were indefatigable in their efforts, and the result must be most gratifiying to them.

The committee have to thank Mr L. B. Harris, sen., for the loan of the paddock, Messrs Green and Oolebrook for gifts and assistance in cutting up, and Mr George Edwards for the use of his bread machine.

Numerous other friends helped in a lesser, but still most acceptable way, hut these were so numerous that individual mention would be impossible.
