Bowling.
With the object of obtaining revenge for the beating received a fortnight ago, three rinks of Huntly bowlers journeyed to Ngaruawahia on Wednesday last. They came back without the revenge. However they had a most pleasant afternoon, and brought about a much better finish than that at Huntly. Indeed one rink scored a good win, while another tied on the twenty-first head, but was beaten in the play off.l The players and scores are given below, the Ngaruawahia names being given first in each instance, Paterson, Haddon, Morris, and Hetherington (skip), 13, v. Lamont, Harris, George and J. P. Bailey (skip) 17. Miller, Clayton, Marsland and Clavis (skip) 24, v. Oarmody, Deane, C. Ba'ley and Matthews (skip) 16. James, Rogers. Couths and Gould 19, v. Marston, Harlock, Littleproud and Turton 19. In the play off in this game, Ngaruawahia scored one and won the match. The totals were Ngaruawahia 57, Huntly 52, the difference thus being five. All the games were wellcontested, and players -were unanimous in expressing the opinion that it was the best contest yet played between the two teams. The visitors w-ere most hospitably entertained by the ladies, who dideverythingto make success in their department. The net result of the match is that the Huntly men ars left with an idea that with patience and perseverance, they will yet prove themselves the better team.
