Bowling.

On Wednesday last, two rinks of Ngaruawahia bowlers, visited Huntly to try conclusions with the local club.

Messrs James, Rogers, -Gould and Hetherington (skip) were pitted against. Messrs. Lament, Harris, Littleproud and Bailey (skip), while Messrs Miller, Paterson, Coutts, and Clavis (skip) opposed Messrs Harlock, Marston, George and Mathews (skip). In the former game, Huntly, scoi-ed on the first two heads and on the fifth head the score \ as 3 all, but the next head was disastrous, Ngaruawahia scoring 7 and making the card read 10—3 in favour of Ngaruawahia. This handicap proved altogether too great for the Huntly players, and despite their utmost efforts the lead was gradually- increased until the Ngaruawahia players ran out easy winners by 24—11.

It is worthy of remark, that Huntly scored in ten heads while Ngaruawahia scored in eleven but while Huntly scored only singles, Ngaruawahia scored in hatfuls.

In the game, Clavis versus Mathews, play was very even in the early stages, and at the ninth head, the score was seven all, but in the following heads, Ngaruawahia pulled away> and by consistently good' play, kept increasing their lead, until they- finally ran out winners by 26 to 11.

It was a good sound beating all round, and Ngaruawahia is to be congratulated on a most meritorious win. No doubt each of the Huntly play-ers would like to feel that the result should have been different, but the fact is, the best team on the day wen, and the Huntly men, being sports, cordially gave tho credit where it was due. A return match has been arranged for an early date, when Huntly hopes to be able to turn the tables on their doughty opponents.
