District News.
WAIKOKOWAI. Own Correspondent. A large number of visitors have returned to Auckland, after spending the Christmas holidays with friends. On Monday last a most enjoyable time was spent at the farm of Mr W. C. Broughton. Friends from various parts ot the district were present and tennis and other games were indulged in during the afternoon. The weather at present is very suitable for the transplanting of mangolds and turnip sowing. A number of farmers have already a few acres sown. Miss M. Leek has returned home after having spent a most enjoyable holiday in Auckland. Mr Herbert who recently underwent an operation for appendicitis at the Hamilton Hospital, left here this week for Auckland, where he intends spending his holidays. The settlers expressed jßor regret on hearing that JWP wick, stationmaster, aL/f* had been transferred. ' his stay at Huntly he considerate and obligf people of this district.
