Presbyterian Church.
A very pleasant social and sale of work combined was held in the Masonic Hall on Friday evening, 17th inst., and continued on Saturday afternoon. The function was very enjoyable, and considering the many other attractions, and the efforts recently madejon behalf of the Sick and Wounded Soldiers, was quite a success. The ladies of the church, assisted by the members of the Deacons Court, worked well. On the stalls, three in number, there was a good display of things, needful and ornamental, and the ladies in attendance were priviledged to do a good business. The art stall looked very attractive, and was presided over by Mesdames Richards dnd Mathews. The sweet stall, laden with good things, was under the supervision of Mrs G. A. Shaw, assisted by Mrs Massey and Gavin. The plain work stall was under the control of Mesdames Starr and Burt. The tea room was under the excellent management of Mesdames Beveridge and Gibson. The shooting gallery was under the contral of Messrs Lamont, W. Shaw and Roberts, and the skittles under the control of Messrs Kinson and White. Items of music were rendered during the evening by Misses Tapp(2), and Harris, Messrs Prentice, Kinson, and McCarthy. Miss May Harris kindly contributed two recitations, Every item was highly appreciated. This pleasant and successful function was brought to a close on Saturday evening.
