Police Court

On Monday last, bofere Messrs E. J. Farrell and J. Bishop, J’s.P., W. Connell was charged with assaulting D. Suttie. Evidence went to show that defendant was drunk on Saturday morning, and began striking matches on complainant’s motor car. On being remonstrated with, he assaulted the complainant, inflicting a severe black eye. Defendant said that Saturday was a blank to him, and that he new nothing about the affair. He was committed to Mount Eden Gaol for 14 days.
