Departing Troopers.

The members of the Ninth Reinforcements who have been spending their last leave in Huntlv, left for Trentham on Saturday evening last. As the train steamed into the Station (twenty minutes late) it was met by the greater part of the population of Huntly. A great number of the troopers who had come through from Auckland and way stations got off the train at Huntly and were greeted most enthusiastically by the inhabitants. The crowd was so great, and people so keen to show their appreciation of the fact that the men were obeying the call of duty, that they pressed so close together that it was most difficult to move about. So difficult, indeed was it, that one trooper, who had got a little distance away from the train was unable to worry his way back to his carriage v hen the whistle blew and wa« lett lamenting on the Station. One of the Huntly men too, failed to get away, arriving at the Station too late to catch the train. Altogether, it may be said, that this was the most enthusiastic send-off yet given to troopers departing from Huntly. Perhaps it will be a means of Ancouraging more of our young men to volunteer their services in defence of their country and homos.
