Bowling.
On the occasion of the official opening of the Hj-'aniawahia Bowling Green for n year 1916-6, a teams of > rily bowlers, Messrs J. P. P \:!ey, A. E. Mathews, E. G urge and C. Bailey, journeyed to Ny.rruawahia. on Wednesday L t try conclusions with tie b .vlers there. They were • < ;nst a team composed Messrs Hetherington, Holds worth and Rogers and James. Mr J. P. Bailey . for Huntly and Mr Hethe; • i-gto.-i for Ngaruawahia. The green was in good playing condition and played very fast and an interesting game ensued Huntly scored two on the first head, and kept in the lead ripht to the finish, eventually wionning by 22 to 18. The play was fairly even on the whole and although Huntly got five on the fourth head the teams kept fairly close together, but despite the struenous efforts of the Ngaruawahia players, they could never get nearer than three behind. The Huntly players were naturally elated at their win, but the Ngaruawahia men are not satisfied and intend lo tryconclusions again at an early | date.
