WAIKOKOWAI
(Own Correspondent.) Quite a gloom was cast over the district when it became known on Sunday that Mrs Comins, relict of the late Joseph Comins, had passed away at her residence, Ruawaro. Much sympathy is felt and expressed for the sons and daughters who are left to mourn their loss. Mr F. Herbert who is suffering from appendicitis has been op rated on at the Hamilton Hospital and is doing as well as can be expected. Miss M. Leek has left the Hospital and is recuperating at Remuera, where she is staying with her grandfather. Mr George Furness is due to leave for the front with the Eleventh Reinforcement. Harvesting has commenced in very bad weather, Messrs Seftou and J. J. Craig having made a start with the cutting of their oats. They will require a good deal of luck to enable them to save their crops in anything like good weather.
