Printing 3 13 0 Can be fairly charged as office expenses, so that the total cost of collecting and handling the £7,571 11s 8d was £ll 14s lid or at the rate of less than 4s for each £IOO. It must be remembered that the work of administering the Fund fell on the shoulders of the local secretary for a period of over 11 months, and the costs above include the writing of innumerable letters, the making of many adjustments and the payment every fortnight of about thirty separate amounts, most of them being made in person at the homes of the beneficiaries, so that cost the of 4/- per cent can hardly be said to be unreasonable.
The balance sheet is now deposited at the Town Board’s Office, where it may be examined by anyone interested, duiing office hours.
