Orange Social

A social promoted by the local Orange Lodge was held in the Miners’ Hall on Monday evening last. The proceeds were devoted to the Sick and Wounded Fund. The Hall was comfortably filled. The music »'as provided by the HuntlyiOrehestra. During the evening songs were rendered by Mrs Coan, Miss Bartle, Mr J. Wesley (jun.), and a quartette by Messrs E. Broadbent, G. Horwood E. Robson, and H. Woods. The floor was in first-class condition. The refreshments department was well presided over by the ladies committee. Nothing was wanting to bring a successful and enjoyable evening to a close at about 1 a.m. Messrs G. Baker and J. Wesley, jun., were most efficient as M.C s. As a result of the effort, a substantial amount should be added to the fund.
