Tennis,
OPENING DAY
After one disappointment and a particularly anxious week-end, the Huntly' Tennis Ciub opened its 1915-16 season on Saturday last. The weather had been so showery up to Friday night and looked so bad on Saturday morning that many members made up their minds that the courts would not be in a fit condition to play on, and so stayed away. Consequently', there were not so many present as would have been the case had the day proved quite fine. However, the courts, after being rolled, were found to be in excellent condition, and those who did turn up were amply rewarded for their display of faith. Visitors were present from Taupiri, and there were plenty of players present to keep the courts fully employed during the afternoon. Although somowhat green after their long period of inaction, players showed surprisingly good form, and with the strengthening the club has received by tho inclusion of new members, it is confidently hopad that Huntly Club will give a better account of itself this season than last. Refreshments provided by the ladies were done ample justice to, and tho afternoon proved altogether so enjoyable that play was continued as long as there was sufficient daylight to make the balls discernible. The season being thus opened no doubt the courts will bo fully employed every evening during the Summer, and we trust that tho sport will receive the support it deserves.
