Accident

Rather a severe accident occurred in the Extended Mine on Tuesday last. It uppers that a miner named J Weston, was going about his work in tho usual way, when a large piece of coal became detached from the side of tho bord in which he was working, and striking him, knocked him down. When picked up, it was found that We ton had been severely injured, and later it was found that ho had ree,lived a fracture of the left thigh, and severe bruises and cuts on the head. The sufferer was attended to by Dr. J. C. MeDiurmid, and later was sent to Iho Hamilton ; Hospital, the Wellington Express | being stopped to pick him up.
