Football Match.

HUNTLY V. EVERTON. The local team travelled to Pukekohe on Saturday last August 21st. and engaged in a cup tie match with the city team. Owing to the late arrival of three of the Huntly players the local club had to start the game three men short. Everton won the toss and were soon around the Huntly gohl, the weak Huiitly defence soon gave way under the pressure and the city team scored their first goal followed soon after by another. At this stage the three Huntly players arrived, the team having played short for nearly a quarter .of an hour. Play ranged pretty evenly after this when close on half-time Everton scored their third point. At Half-time the score was Everton 3 Huntly 0 On resuming, Huntly staffed off well but though their field play was as good as their opponents, when it came to goal the forwards were woefully weak their shots either going past or being easily disposed of by the city goalkeeper. The local team never recovered from their early reverses and not at any time during the game did they show a glimpse of their true form. Everton obtained other two rather easily got goals and towards the close of the game Timms converted from a penalty. The score rather flatters the city team for although the better team on the day’s play there was not such a difference between the teams as the score would indicate. Final score Everton ... ... 5 Huntly ... ... 1 A rather interesting match falls to be decided on tho Itecreation Ground on Saturday August 28Vie, when teams representing England and Scotland will meet and contest the right of which is the better team. A good game should be the outcome and after the match both teams will meet in Mr G. Edward’s restaurant where a farewell social will he tendered to three of the Huntly soccer players who are at present on leave from camp and are due to return again on Saturday night. ENGLAND’S TEAM.
